This is that time of the year, again. We all feel a renewed energy, an urge to do more and take new resolutions for the year that has just begun. Whether we’d like to start a new job, try a new hobby, take more time to relax and for ourselves, eat better, gain muscles, lose weight, be a better person, help others or anything else that would make a difference this year, that would make it count. Well, it’s time to leave your comfort zone and make those changes you’ve been dreaming about, but this time, for good, for the rest of your life.
Have any of the resolutions you took at the beginning of a year ever lasted longer than a few weeks or months? Do you know why you’re unable to keep those resolutions for good? Would you like to make permanent changes that will make a real difference long term, for the rest of your life?
Let me first tell you a secret, there’s no instant miracle cure! No diets, pills, natural products, herbs, foods, gym memberships or equipment, new shoes, new clothes or new gadgets will ever be the permanent solution to what you’re seeking to accomplish, which is to feel good in your body and mind, whatever this means to you, every day, for the rest of your life. But don’t get me wrong, real and whole healthy foods and herbs are your best allies! What you put in your body will in a huge part determine how you’ll feel. The other key is to balance your life so that it doesn’t create imbalances in your body or your mind. It’s necessary to find your balance, to make peace with yourself and others, to feel good in your mind, so you can feel good in your body, and vice versa. It’s all interconnected.
The key is to reconnect with your true self. To ask yourself what you really want to accomplish, what you want to look like, what you want to be, now, but also for the rest of your life. This process will take time, patience and persistence, but it’s the only way to a successful body and mind.
Now, this is one thing to say all this, but how you may ask, how is it possible to make sustainable changes in our life?
Well, I prepared the following guide based on my experiences, struggles and accomplishments. This is meant as guidance, as it will be critical, for anything you would like to change in your life, to first make any decision because that’s what you really want, not because everybody else is doing it, and to ask yourself if it resonates with you, if that’s what is suitable for you, and not for anybody else. Even if we all seem the same, we all have unique needs and we’ll all need to reconnect with our true self to be able to address those needs for ourselves, so that those resolutions will become a way of life, and not just a punctual practice that won’t last, whether it’s about your way to be, exercise, food or lifestyle.
1. STOP
Stop lying to yourself.
Stop “doing” all the time.
Stop doing what everybody else is doing because everybody else is doing it.
Stop worrying about what others think.
Stop thinking that it’s impossible to feel how you want to feel, to be what you want to be or to do what you want to do.
Stop wanting to please everybody else but yourself as a way to avoid facing your own truth.
Whether you like it or not, many of us have been or are still lying to ourselves. This may seem easier in our mind, as we avoid facing our truth, to not face what isn’t working in our life. But this process is essential if we want to make things work for the rest of our life and believe me, this is rewarding. It’s time to stop thinking that it’s okay to do a job you don’t like, to have hobbies you don’t really care about just to keep yourself busy or be part of a group, that it’s okay to be fat, okay to be too thin, okay to not feel good, okay to gain weight, okay to be sick or okay to take pills because you’re at a certain life stage, or that it’s okay to stop being yourself and have fun because you’re an adult now, okay to stop dressing the way you want because others or the fashion trends tell you otherwise.
What is it you really want for yourself? How do you want to feel every day? What person would you like to be on a daily basis? What makes you feel good and leads you to doing good? What lifts your spirit, spark the fire inside you? Only you can tell and for this, you’ll have to reconnect with your true self, your BEASTIE U. Yes, we’re animals, we’re souls, we once had good instincts and it’s now time to make them work again, for yourself, for your wellbeing and for others’.
2. START
Start reconnecting with yourself.
Start “being” all the time, even when you’re “doing.”
Start doing what you really want to do, feeling how you really want to feel, be what you really want to be.
Start believing that everything is possible.
Start being confident in your choices, your way to be.
Start caring about yourself first.
There are many ways to reconnect with yourself, your true self, your BEASTIE U. But the very first step is to make that decision yourself, for yourself, for your wellbeing, inside and out. Nobody else, not even me, can help you if you don’t decide first to help yourself. It’s only when you make that decision that you can, if needed, seek the help needed.
So, to reconnect with yourself, it will be important to take time for yourself, to really assess what is going on in your life, how you feel, who you are and what your goals are before you can become and be the person you’ve always dreamed of becoming and being, your true self. It may take a mix of self-thinking, meditation, knowledge seeking, openness, questioning, control drama clearing, karmic cord cutting, trauma healing, forgiving for yourself and others, and releasing and letting go.
You’re the solution. You’re the key. You’re the “magic pill”! It’s up to you to decide. It’s also up to you, with help if needed, to find your very own perfect way of life. It’s up to you to figure out what job you should do, what you should eat to feel good, what exercise you should do (and yes, everybody should exercise!), what lifestyle you should adopt, how many hours of sleep you need, what you should believe or not, what you should be or what you should do with your life. All that so you can feel optimal and happy all the time, every day. Of course, we’ll always have moments when we don’t feel optimal and it’s okay. When it happens, it’s important to live it fully, to understand why it’s happening, to resolve the deep cause and to take the time necessary to get back on your feet and move forward.
3. BE
Be the change by choosing you.
Be mindful and conscious in everything you do.
Be the key to your success in all the aspects of your life: your body, your mind, your relationships, your work.
Be grateful every day for what you have and what happens in your life, even when it’s “bad.”
Be good to yourself, to others, to pets and animals and to nature. We’re all interconnected and what we do, think or say have an impact on who and what surround us whether we see it or not.
Be an inspiration to others by setting a good example, by caring, by being love.
It all starts with you. You’ve got that power, that force in you. Only you can decide to take that path. Be there for yourself then for others. Be there when you eat, when you work, when you interact with people, when you exercise, when you relax. Each and every day, think about all the good things in your life, be thankful for your life and what fills it. Be nice to yourself by listening to your needs. Be nice to others by caring and listening to what they have to say, not just thinking about how to respond, react or judge. We all have important things to say to each other, messages that help all of us evolve to a better version of us, to a better life together. It’s time to listen, but to really listen and pay attention to what is said to you, whether it comes to you as a thought, as a feeling in your body, from nature, from a situation, from a media, from an animal or from another person. And it’s okay to have nothing to say in return or at all. Be comfortable with silence, as it’s in silence (in your mind too) that you connect the best with yourself and with everything that surrounds you, even nature, and that you receive important information under the form of clear messages, ideas or intuitions.
Pay attention to what happens, to what you see, to what you hear, to what you feel, as those all combined are messages sent to you to help you along your journey. Be there to receive those messages and act accordingly. You’ll be amazed once you start to pay attention to see how many messages you receive, from everything in your life, whether to tell you you’re on the right path, you need to change something or something may happen. Tune in and trust your instincts again!
So, there you are. Alone with yourself thinking about all this and how to start. Take the time it needs. Look at yourself in the mirror and I mean, really look at yourself, your true self that is still there, that has always been there, but that you decided to hide because of fear, fear of not being accepted, fear of having to face your demons, fear of not being part of the society.
As mentioned, this is a process. This isn’t something that you’ll do once, one day, and it will solve all your problems. But it’s not that hard. It doesn’t have to be. You’re the only one that can decide, that can be the person you’re supposed to be, to follow your real purpose in life, for the rest of your life. And yes, even if you take that path, become the person you’re supposed to be, you’ll be tested along the way. Things will happen, but even if at first some things may seem bad, they happen to help you evolve, to confirm that it’s really what you want, that it’s really who you are, to help you be an even better person each and every day. It’s your inner force that’ll help you overcome those situations where you’ll have no choice but to ask yourself why this is happening to you. Because be sure of one thing, everything happens for a reason. And to make sure that in a near future, there is more positive than “negative” things happening to you, you’ll have to face and resolve the deep causes.
But you’re not alone. I’m here for you, to guide you in your awakening.
